Welcome to Avenue Boutique's Bleach Care Guide, designed to help you maintain your hair's health after bleaching. We are committed to ensuring your hair remains in the best condition possible throughout your bleaching journey with us and that you are fully informed on any risks factors associated with bleaching.

Lightening Your Hair with Bleach:

  • Bleach is used to achieve lighter results that tint cannot achieve. It lifts hair through stages from orange to yellow, and in some cases, to pale yellow or white. Bleach removes pigment, protein, and moisture from your hair, making it crucial to maintain a proper hair care routine at home to prevent damage and breakage.
  • Bleaching weakens the internal structure of your hair, making it more vulnerable to damage. It's essential to take extra precautions at home to keep your hair in optimal condition.

Risks of Bleaching:

  • Bleaching significantly weakens hair's internal structure, increasing the risk of breakage, especially when combined with excessive heat styling. Failure to follow recommended aftercare advice, such as using suitable products to replenish moisture & protein, can further contribute to damage. It's essential to prioritise proper care post-bleaching to maintain hair strength and prevent breakage, ensuring your hair remains healthy and resilient in the long run. If your hair's condition is deemed too risky for bleaching, we will not perform the service.

What We Do in the Salon:

  • We recommend using a bond builder like Olaplex or Rebond during every bleaching service, even when using foils. These treatments prevent hair bonds from breaking during bleaching, ensuring long-term hair health.

Fade with Toners and Direct Colours:

  • After lightening, we often use toners to achieve desired shades and neutralise yellow or orange tones. Toners are not permanent and will need touch-ups. With proper care, toners can last 4-6 weeks on healthy hair but may fade quicker on damaged hair.
  • Extend toner longevity with products like purple shampoo or coloured conditioners recommended by your stylist.

On-Scalp Bleaching:

  • Bleach on the scalp may cause irritation, redness, itching, and in rare cases, small sores that reduce within a few days.
  •  It's normal for the scalp to appear slightly pink after bleaching, which usually settles after a couple of days.

Home Care Tips:

  • Replace lost protein and moisture at home between colour services with a high-quality shampoo and conditioner. We recommend Eleven Repair My Hair Shampoo and Conditioner for its balanced formula, especially beneficial for fine and curly hair.
  • Use a weekly treatment at home like Olaplex or Re-bond to repair broken bonds and prevent breakage, especially if using heat styling tools.
  • You must always use a heat protection product if using heat on your hair to prevent further damage, especially after bleaching because the hair is already in a more fragile state than before.

Building a consistent hair care routine is crucial for maintaining the health and vibrancy of your bleached hair. Remember, bleaching your hair is an investment that extends beyond the salon.
